I saw a wizard on my walk today.   2 comments

The wind was out of the SSW about 15 knots and the waves were whipped angrily into white caps.

Sand was pelting my skin as I struggled to get back down to 8th Ave North before the rain came.

The ocean was a scuddy off green and it seemed like it was alive with something almost evil churned up from the bottom.

Then there he was, poised at the edge of the surf line.  Watching, waiting, and studying as if he was getting ready to cast a spell.

In his hand was a bright red wooden skim board covered in garish runes.

He had on bright blue and grey board shorts and there was mystical writing tattooed on his left side over his external inter coastal muscles.

In a flash of energy he accelerated along the coast and cast the board forward precisely into the edge of the surf.

Then magically he hit the board and became one with the wood and sand and ocean.

Before I knew it he he spun the board into an effortless 360 and hit the incoming wave at the exact right time and speed to launch into a back flip.

Back out of the surf I could tell the spell was cast correctly by the smile on his face.

I no longer felt the sand pelting my skin or noticed the angry ocean, all I could see was a wizard.
